These are some of the most blood curdling resume mistakes we have seen. The horror! The agony! The lack of effort...
Don't make the same mistakes!
#1- Resume Massacre
The recruiter sits dazed, staring at your resume....trying to make sense of what is happening. It’s gruesome!
Did you really just condense your career into a list of words disguised as bullet points?
payroll
teamwork
accounting
reports
balancing
Are we supposed to interpret those bullet points? You just slashed and slashed your resume into nothingness.
Whatever you do, don’t over edit! Yes recruiters and hiring managers love a concise, well formatted document but it must tell a story!
#2- The Thing
Assimilate. Imitate. Lie. No!
Who are you? Is this fact or fiction? Are you The Thing???
Waiting to pick up your friend after her Statistics course does not mean you are “familiar with analytics.”
Loving your friend’s resume does not mean you should copy it whole sale.
Lying about attending a course or having certain qualifications is a recipe for disaster.
Only include factual information on your resume. Recruiters do background checks. Don’t lie. You will be caught.
#3- SCREAM-er
DO YOU THINK THIS IS AESTHETICALLY PLEASING?
WHY ARE YOU SHOUTING AT THE RECRUITER?
ARE YOU ANNOYED AS YET? WE DEFINITELY ARE...
Do not type your entire resume in caps. Do not use barely legible fonts and capitalization get your point across. Allow your qualifications and achievements to speak for themselves. Sentence case is fine.
If you still can’t grasp why using all caps is a bad idea, contact us today. We’d love to help.
#4- The Invisible Applicant

Interests outside of work. Volunteers ✓

Is this some cruel joke. Did you mean to play with the recruiter's emotions?
You just shot yourself in the foot and the recruiter can't help, because they cant find you.
We can help though. Contact as today for a resume review and reformat. You won't
regret it.
#5- Paranormal Inactivity
Your have an impressive degree but your training/certification or skills section on your resume has one item, or worse, does not exist.
Why haven't you pursued development? Is this real? Are you a ghost? We are legitimately scared.
Organizations need employees who are agile, who keep developing their skills. Establishing yourself as an active learner can make a difference between employment and promotion or stagnancy.
You don't have to pay large sums of money to learn a new skill. The internet is your oyster. There are several courses available at reasonable prices. And in some instances, YouTube is a great teacher. Especially if you want to master something like Microsoft Office. *hint* Remember, once you've mastered a new area- list those new skills on your resume. Go for it!
